German Taxes: The Basics (in English!)

Let’s face it: the only thing worse than having to file your taxes is having to file them in a foreign country (and foreign language). We can’t file your taxes for you (sorry!), but we can break down the basics, and help you feel as prepared as possible for dealing with the federal tax offices in Germany as well as your country of origin.

EXPERT

Mahmoud Achourstudied law at the legal faculty of the University of Hanover. He worked in a medium-sized law firm in Dortmund and completed his training in a law firm for commercial/business law in Berlin. Mahmoud Achour was admitted to the Bar in 2003. This was followed by another employment in a commercial law firm, before he founded the law firm Achour in 2004, which expanded in 2005 to form the existing partnership company. Mahmoud Achour is also specialized in tax law since 2011.

The registration process is managed by our partner Berlin Kreativ Kollektiv e.V. (BKK)

Why is there a deposit? It's very simple: you pay a 10€ deposit for the ticket, and everyone who appears will get it refunded after the event. This way we ensure that fewer tickets are bought without being used. If someone can't come at short notice, their 10€ will stay in the BKK deposit-pot, which the BKK will use to buy snacks or drinks for their next workshop.
